Systems can still fail with a surge protector in place. When it comes to surge protection, you get what you pay for! If it's cheap...well, it's cheap.

A solid battery backup is a worthy investment!

We've had a quiet and calm winter, but like always, Spring can bring thunder storms. Tonight is no different. We've got thunderstorms on the radar and we never know where it will strike.

Best thing is to unplug your computer--don't just turn it off as electricity is still flowing through the components.

Next is to make sure you've got a good quality surge protector and/or battery backup. If you use Digital phone, don't forget that your phone will die along with your internet if the power goes out, unlike analog phones.

Weather is getting warmer--strange to have warmer weather in January.

Reminds me of Spring and Fall strange weather. Thunderstorms are deadly to computers. Please do NOT think that since you have a power strip you are safe. Every lightening storm brings in computers zapped by lightening...and they have been on a power strip.

When buying a power strip, don't try to save money! Find one with a connected product guarantee, high joules rating, and "lightening fast" response time. Know what you are buying by studing it first!

wunderground.com reporting snow in our future.

If snow levels are too high (therefore, heavy snow) there may be power outages due to falling limbs or excesive power consumption.

SAVE OFTEN! Have a backup (or two).

EXCESSIVE COLD ON THE WAY!

Power issues could easily happen. Save data. To be safe, unplug your entire machine. This will guarantee no surges on your system.
